POSTION SUMMARY

Senior Director, Commercial Effectiveness & Operations will lead and direct the commercial training function, sales operations and marketing operations. Focus is on ensuring the current and future training and development needs of the Sales and Commercial teams are met. Responsible for the planning and execution of training and development curriculum ensuring a learning culture.  Responsible for maximizing the opportunities with team utilizing all available venues including national meetings and regional meetings. Leading the commercial sales operations function to support of organizational needs; including Veeva CRM, incentive planning, sales performance, and field targeting and resourcing.    This role will also oversee the marketing operations function that supports meeting execution, conference presence, and marketing & diagnostic testing material management. They will work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders such as Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs & International teams to ensure training alignment with corporate objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and direct Training to continually assess, enhance, and update all training programs and curriculums, to include: Pharma Market Knowledge, disease state expertise, product knowledge, new hire training, advanced training, selling skills, account planning and coaching models.
  • Strategic planning, development, execution, and facilitation of comprehensive sales training curricula focused on advanced skill sets and capabilities for use during training classes, POAs and other national/ regional meetings.
  • Lead team responsible for Veeva CRM management, customer mastering, incentive planning and administration, vendor credentialing, field team support, and territory level data and performance analytics
  • Manage and ensure marketing operations team supports meeting & conference planning, and material management in support of current and future business needs.
  • Develop and lead skill, leadership, and professional development training.
  • Ensure training resources (i.e., materials, workshops, modules) meet all regulatory, legal and compliance requirements for assigned individual projects and initiatives.
  • Become a trusted thought partner with Area Directors, RAM team, Market Access, Marketing, and related teams to define commercial operations needs and training offerings that scale and differentiate while meeting broad set of customer requirements.
  • Works cross functionally to identify, develop and implement best practices focused on field force execution of the Brand Plans.
  • Embrace entrepreneurial spirit for an emerging biopharmaceutical company – the ability to foster relationships and develop innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Responsible for synchronizing with global teams in other regions to coordinate with respect to product and disease training requirements, scheduling and ensuring a global training standard.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to develop strategic, tactical and communication plans for field execution.
  • Work with the analytics team to develop and ensure utilization of business analytics to identify trends, challenges, and business opportunities within field Sales Organization
  • Partners with other members of the commercial org, as needed, on other training initiatives.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 10+ years of experience within the pharma/biotech market.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales.
  • 2+ years of experience in organizational training and development.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in Pharmaceutical/Biotech Sales.
  • Experience in niche or rare disease markets.
  • Previous launch experience desired.
  • Small biotech experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience in building different types of training to include decks, workshops, static resources, and more.
  • Strong proficiency in designing and executing virtual training.
  • Embraces a growth mindset and looks for process improvements and efficiencies across the commercial organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with incentive compensation planning and tracking
  • Experience with using data for territory development and alignments.
  • Understanding of Veeva systems and vendor management
  • Skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully influence, collaborate and interact effectively within team structure and multiple key stakeholders across organization to align on objectives and provide consistent training direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid professional judgment and ability to work with confidential information is required.
  • Ability to contribute and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and maintain operational quality.
  • Effectively complete tasks, efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally and with vendor partners.
