Position Summary

The Associate Director, Sales Training and Effectiveness will lead and direct the sales training function to support training of field sales/commercial teams and promoted products. Oversees field sales communication function including ensuring that communication, reporting and marketing information are organized to minimize field team disruption and maximize retention to the sales organization and internal support groups. Focus is on ensuring the current and future training and development needs of the Sales and Commercial teams are met. Is responsible for the planning and execution of training sessions at national and regional meetings aligned with all key sales and marketing objectives. They will work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders such as Commercial Operations, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access & International teams to ensure training alignment with corporate objectives.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct Training to continually assess, enhance, and update all training programs and curriculums, to include pharma market knowledge, disease state expertise, product knowledge, new hire training, advanced training, skill and competency development, account planning and coaching models.
  • Strategic planning, development, execution, and facilitation of comprehensive sales training curricula focused on advanced skill sets and capabilities for use during training classes, POAs and other national and regional meetings.
  • Schedules, plans, and directs all field sales training classes and oversees all agendas to ensure short and long-term objectives of the sales and marketing strategies are met.
  • Ensure training resources (i.e., materials, workshops, modules) meet all regulatory, legal and compliance requirements for assigned individual projects and initiatives.
  • Coordination across Mirum cross functional teams, ensuring all training materials meet the goals and objectives of the sales and marketing teams.
  • Become a trusted thought partner with VP’s, Area Directors, Field Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access, and related teams to define training offerings that scale and differentiate while meeting a broad set of customer requirements.
  • Partners with marketing, market access and patient access to roll out and train on new field sales materials.
  • Works cross functionally to identify, develop, and implement best practices focused on field force execution of the Brand Plan.
  • Embrace entrepreneurial spirit for an emerging biopharmaceutical company – the ability to foster relationships and develop innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Responsible for synchronizing with global teams in other regions to coordinate with respect to product and disease training requirements, scheduling, and ensuring a global training standard.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to develop strategic, tactical and communication plans for field execution.
  • Work with the analytics team to develop and ensure utilization of business analytics to identify trends, challenges, and business opportunities within the Field Sales Organization.
  • Partners with other members of the commercial org, as needed, on other training initiatives.

Qualifications 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 7+ years of experience within the pharma/biotech market
  • 5+ years of experience in sales
  • 2+ years of experience in organizational training and development
  • Demonstrated experience and success in Pharmaceutical/Biotech Sales
  • Experience in niche or rare disease markets
  • Launch experience
  • Small biotech experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of and experience in building different types of training to include decks, workshops, static resources, and more.
  • Strong proficiency in designing and executing virtual training
  • Skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to successfully influence, collaborate and interact effectively within team structure and multiple key stakeholders across organization to align on objectives and provide consistent training direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid professional judgment and ability to work with confidential information is required.
  • Ability to contribute and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and maintain operational quality.
  • Effectively complete tasks, efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong initiative and ability to multi-task.
  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally and with vendor partners.
