POSITION SUMMARY

This individual will play a key role in establishing Mirum’s corporate strategy and leading business development activities, including to oversee both the search & evaluation as well as transaction execution efforts at Mirum. This role will report directly to the President & COO and partner closely with the entire Leadership Team.  

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and execute on company expansion and acquisition strategy in conjunction with Leadership Team, targeting building Mirum to $10 billion market capitalization leader in rare disease.
  • Define new programs & targets of commercial interest and pursue corresponding assets and partnership opportunities, in collaboration with Mirum functional & management stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional due diligence reviews to support technical & scientific assessments and business cases for new opportunities.
  • Develop proposed deal architecture and terms. Lead negotiations of term sheets and agreements with potential partners in collaboration with legal and finance.
  • Instill a deal-mindset in the organization, driving decision-making throughout deal process, and making recommendations to Leadership and Board stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with potential pharma, biotech, and academic partners.
  • Responsible for leading key strategic partnership alliance relationships.
  • Enable success of development portfolio and planning for longer-term strategies of portfolio and assets, including assisting with the assessment of commercial opportunities and competitive landscape.
  • Lead and build a team to execute on business development objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of Business Development experience required, with significant deal & negotiations experience.
  • Master’s degree or higher in life sciences or MBA with strong business acumen.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration capabilities, proven in partnership setting, and demonstration of key business development success.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker who can distill complex technical or business problems to drive to solutions.
  • Ability to develop methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people.
  • Demonstrated consistency and professionalism in employee collaboration, management skills and teamwork.
